Prachanda - Man of different colours.

''False words are not only evil in themselves, but they infect the soul with evil.''
- Socrates.

Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal (Prachanda) presented a very righteous demeanour while delivering his resignation speech on Monday. He looked guileless and sounded truthful. ''In order to create a conducive environment towards preserving democracy, nationalism and the peace process, I resign as the leader of the council of ministers,'' he said. He blamed elements within and outside the coalition government, as well as foreigners for not letting his government work in favour of the people. But for his part, he also accepted that there were experience-related shortcomings. He tried to assure people that he was giving up because, according to him, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav's intervention on his government's dismissal of the army chief undermined the democratic principle of civilian supremacy. He also repeatedly reiterated his commitments on democracy and dismissed the allegations that his party United CPN (M)was planning for a violent seizure of power. As nicely as his parting speech was worded, he must have convinced many people. And he might have been elated with his apparent grandeur when he rewatched his speech in the screen. Here are the clips of his resignation speech:

But as a Nepali saying goes, Lies canot be defended (ढाँटेको कुरा काटे मिल्दैन). He might have fooled his way to an election victory and gone on to become the first Prime Minister of republic Nepal, but his evil intentions have been exposed by another video tape that has been released on the very next day of his apparently heroic departure. Prachanda may even attempt to dismiss this new video, but lets believe our eyes first.
